BBC responds to report by Jodie Whittaker is leaving Doctor Who

The BBC responded to a report that Jodie Whittaker is leaving Doctor who.

According The mirror, the actress, who plays the 13th Doctor and the first female Time Lord, is planning to leave the series after the next series 13, while showrunner Chris Chibnall will remain.

The move would make Whittaker one of many doctors, including Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi, to leave after filming three series of science fiction drama.

When contacted by Digital Spy, the BBC replied, “We will not comment on any speculation about Jodie’s future on the show.”

Doctor who series 13 will air only eight episodes this fall, following interruptions in coronavirus-related filming.

Speaking earlier about his role in the series, Whittaker said Weekly entertainment: “I absolutely love it.

“At some point, these shoes are going to be delivered, but not yet. I’m holding on tight!”

Rumors of his departure follow Whittaker’s old Doctor who co-stars Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole recently retired from the series.

The New Year’s special ‘Revolution of the Daleks’ saw their characters Graham O’Brien and Ryan Sinclair leave the show in “sad” and “moving” scenes.

Comedian John Bishop will take his place, having recently been announced as the Doctor’s new season 13 companion, Dan.
