‘Bachelor’ Matt James’ shopping meeting with Rachael Kirkconnell

“Queen Victoria” may have gone home on Monday night in the episode of “The Bachelor”, but a lucky competitor still had her Cinderella moment.

During an individual “fairy tale” encounter with Matt James, 29, Rachael Kirkconnell, 24, she was presented with a shopping spree with famous stylist Ty Hunter.

“We kind of played dress up,” Hunter told Page Six Style. “Everything, as you saw it, was real.”

The style expert, who spent decades working with Beyoncé on iconic looks like her 2015 Met Gala nude dress, said Kirkconnell was a dream to dress up.

“It was a blessing because she fit everything like a glove. She just had a good energy and a good spirit, which made it easier for me, ”he explained.

Before going into quarantine for his appearance on the dating show, Hunter selected clothes without knowing who would arrange the coveted date.

“Believe it or not, the girls are the same size range, but I didn’t know who [was on the date] literally two or three days before ”, he recalled. “It came out of a huge list of all the girls, of all their sizes, and then it was broken.

Before serving as Kirkconnell’s fairy fashion godmother, Hunter drew looks from stylist friends like Michael Costello and Rubin Singer.

In addition to wearing a hot red mini from Costello’s collaboration with Revolve ($ 191) and wearing Christian Louboutin’s heels ($ 845), Kirkconnell tried on a number of Singer looks during the meeting – including a number of sequins with a corset ( $ 695), an off-the-shoulder dress ($ 2,497) and a hand-embroidered dress ($ 395).

It was far from the first time that Hunter and Singer created high fashion moments together, as they had already collaborated on the costumes for Beyoncé’s performance at the 2013 Super Bowl break.

“We had to give them enough options and breadth,” said Singer of the preparation process, revealing that he gave Hunter carte blanche to select items from his current archives and collections.

“We kind of put together what he thought was the best looks for the task at hand and the type of girl we were wearing.”

And while the date may have felt like a fairy tale, Kirkconnell’s vast amount of shopping was far from fiction. According to Hunter, she was presented with pieces from Costello’s Revolve collection, allowing her to return to the “Bachelor” mansion with an armful of bags that induced jealousy.

While it remains to be seen whether their fairytale encounter will lead to a happily ever after with James, Hunter noted the “genuine passion” between the two – even when the cameras stopped rotating.

“Between takes, they liked each other very much,” he said. “I don’t know who won, but I do know that when I was there with both of them, the chemistry was so strong – it was like, oh my God.”

Hunter continued, “I just didn’t know it was so real. Often, when I think of reality shows, you just don’t know, but being part of it and really being in it … they couldn’t take their eyes off each other. They were very sensitive, and you could see the passion there. “

“Bachelor” Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell shared “strong” chemistry during the shopping encounter, according to Ty Hunter.
