Awesome Games Done Quick 2021 raises over £ 2 million for cancer charity • Eurogamer.net

“That ended what was a phenomenal # AGDQ2021!”

The speedrunners who contribute to Awesome Games Done Quick raised more than $ 2.75 million (£ 2.3 million) for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

“Our final # AGDQ2021 total is $ 2,758,847 to Prevent Cancer!” the organization announced earlier today when the event came to an end. “We hope you had a great time watching all the talented races and runners, and we want to thank everyone involved in the event, everyone who donated and, of course, all of you for being here with us!”

“That ended what has been a phenomenal # AGDQ2021! Your support this whole week has been nothing short of spectacular, and we can’t thank everyone enough!” another tweet said. “# SGDQ2021 awaits us and the details will come. We will have regular Hotfix content on our Twitch until then, so stay here!”

The money continues to come in, however, with the total at just $ 2.76 million at the time of writing. Donations are still welcome through the official donations page, and you can even win prizes.

Games Done Quick is a charity fundraising organization that has raised money for charity through speedrunning for the past ten years. The events are broadcast live online, non-stop, and all donations go directly to the charity.

The next GDQ event is scheduled for the end of this year, although the final dates have not yet been confirmed. For more information, visit the official website.
