Assistant professor in Applied Physics in Conway, SC, Coastal Carolina University

The Faculty of Sciences at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for two positions of Assistant Professor of Physics in the Department of Physics and Engineering Sciences from August 2021.

We are looking for physicists who can significantly contribute to the development of the curriculum and the future direction of the Physics and Engineering Sciences department. Specifically, experimental physicists are preferred. Applicants must be scholarship-holders with an interest in current physics teaching pedagogies and must have plans to establish undergraduate research agendas. Along with the ability to teach traditional higher education courses in their fields, preferred candidates will also have the ability to teach some introductory physics courses. Initial funds will be available to establish a research agenda that incorporates undergraduate students. The university’s Smith Science building underwent a $ 6.5 million renovation completed in 2017, which included more than 1,600 square feet of shared research space.

Applicants must have a doctorate. in physics or a discipline related to a solid physics background, an additional or relevant master’s degree.
