Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will have ‘stronger and longer’ post-launch support than Odyssey

Assassin's Creed Valhalla updates post-launch support

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was a huge success for Ubisoft. The open-world Viking adventure launched in November last year for PS5 and PS4. Shortly after, the French publisher announced that Valhalla had enjoyed the “biggest release” in the series’ history. And earlier this week, Ubisoft confirmed that it had its best quarter in terms of finance – a huge turnover that was led by the success of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

With all of that in mind, it makes sense for Ubisoft to go all-in on Valhalla – and apparently that’s exactly what it will do. During its most recent earnings conference call, the company reiterated that post-launch support for the game is a priority, stating that Valhalla “will benefit from a stronger and longer post-launch program” than Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

To recap, Odyssey’s post-launch support was quite stellar. It received two solid expansions (each divided into three episodes) and a bunch of free content updates that added requested features, new missions and more. In comparison, Valhalla started out pretty slow – but it is fair to assume that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic had an impact on the developer’s plans (as well as the overall game errors).

That said, February must be a great month for Valhalla. The ‘River Raid’ game update will be released this month, bringing an entirely new activity to the hazy coasts of medieval England. A list of bug fixes is also in progress and, at this point, we partially expect everything to go down at once.

In addition, the title’s first expansion, ‘Wrath of the Druids’, is still underway to be released this spring. We should hear more about this soon.

In any case, if Valhalla succeeds in overcoming the post-launch Odyssey script, fans will be in for a surprise. As it stands, the Assassin’s Creed community seems to be somewhat divided as to the direction of the game; there has been a small outcry recently regarding the title’s questionable microtransaction store. We hope that these new updates will fix things.
