Ashley Judd is opening up about her recent accident.
Last week, the 52-year-old actress revealed during an Instagram Live session that she was hospitalized after suffering “massive catastrophic injuries” after tripping over a fallen tree in the Congo region of Africa.
Now, she shared photos of her rescue on Instagram, which were taken after she seriously injured her leg. In her post, Judd included photos of herself being carried on a hammock through the forest before going out on the back of a bicycle for treatment.
Also included in the post was a photo of the actress lying on the floor with a brace on her injured leg, as well as some photos of her Congolese friends.

“Friends. Without my Congolese brothers and sisters, my internal bleeding would probably have killed me and I would have lost my leg,” she started in the long caption. “I wake up crying with gratitude, deeply moved by each person who contributed something to give life and save the spirit during my exhausting 55-hour odyssey.”

The star explained that she broke her leg in four places and suffered nerve damage. She also said that her friend Dieumerci sat with her on the forest floor for five hours, preventing her “totally misshapen left leg” from moving, supporting her with her own leg.
Judd referred to Dieumerci as his “witness” who was with her during her “primary pain”.
She then remembered another man, Papa Jean, arriving to restore his leg after he searched for another five hours.

Six men placed the wounded star in a net and “walked for 3 hours on rugged terrain” to carry it out of the area.

Yahoo! Entertainment reports that the “Double Jeopardy” actress travels to the Congo about twice a year because her “life partner” runs a research field there. In the USA, she is known for camping in the countryside.

According to the shot, she is bedridden for at least the rest of the week while recovering from having rods attached to her leg.
Judd said she “will walk again”, but does not have a “deadline” to recover.
