Armed bystander prevents Chick-fil-A thief from fleeing crime scene

These customers were definitely not cowards.

An attempted theft at a Chick-fil-A in Georgia was reportedly thwarted by an armed citizen who kept the suspect at gunpoint until authorities could arrive.

The incident occurred last Tuesday at a Chick-fil-A in Atlanta, Georgia, reports WSB-TV 2. The armed suspect reportedly entered the restaurant, threatened workers with the gun and demanded money. During the robbery, one of the cashiers reportedly escaped to the back of the cafeteria, after which the suspect tried to leave. It is unclear whether the suspect managed to get any money out of the restaurant before running away.

Several customers confronted the man on his way out of the restaurant, one of whom was armed. The armed client reportedly fired two shots and kept the suspect at gunpoint until authorities arrived. Witnesses initially said the suspect had also fired a gun during the attempted robbery, although police later confirmed that the armed passer-by was the only individual to fire.

No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect, identified as Willie Gloston, was taken into custody and charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while committing a crime. He is being held in Fulton County Prison.

The armed citizen who prevented the suspect from escaping was not charged with any crime, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
