Apple Watch calls for immediate help for the man who fell on the ice

A New Hampshire man was ice skating on a frozen river when he fell on the ice, but he got help very close to instantly using his Apple Watch.

Firefighters responded to a call for 911 minutes after William Rogers fell on the ice in the Salmon Falls River in New Hampshire. He was skating on the ice and didn’t realize that the ice was thin enough to fall.

“I remember saying to myself, ‘OK, don’t panic. Don’t panic,'” said Rogers. “Find out what your options are here.”

As the seconds passed and hypothermia was about to set in, he remembered that he was using his Apple Watch and used it to call 911.

“So, I told them I probably had 10 minutes before I was no longer able to answer,” he said.

The fire department that provided the rescue was able to arrive five minutes after the call via Apple Watch.
