Angela said: ‘They wanted us to know how much it means to them that we are becoming a family. It was really moving. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room! ‘

Angela confirmed the engagement in August of that year, recalling the proposal: ‘We were going out to dinner and my daughter said that she first wanted to show me the fort in the yard that she and my boyfriend’s children were working on.

‘She took me outside and there was a blanket next to the pool and she said that I had to sit on it. His children brought me flowers and then he came around the corner with a ring.

Angela, who co-hosts the Office Ladies podcast with Jenna Fischer, added: ‘He called my mom and asked for her blessing … that would have made my dad very happy.

‘He proposed and I said yes. The ring is an emerald … the birthstone of the three children. The children made me cards and photos and I cried. I cried that ugly happy cry. ‘
