- Android apps are crashing randomly for some users.
- Google recognized the problem and is working to correct it.
- The problem appears to be due to an incorrect update of the Android System WebView.
Android users have been experiencing random application crashes in the past few hours. Applications like Gmail, Google, Yahoo Mail and others are constantly closing and behaving erratically. However, Google is aware of the problem and is working to fix it.
In a statement to several publications, a Google spokesman said: “We are aware of an issue with WebView that causes some Android applications to crash. We are currently working to fully validate the scope and a correction is in progress ”.
The bug appears to be affecting all Android applications that use the WebView system component. Google apparently released a bad update for WebView, resulting in crashes of the Android application.
Some users have found Removing the latest WebView update or uninstalling WebView completely fixes the problem. Samsung’s official US support Twitter account also recommends removing the update.
Hi! Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Remove the update from Webview and restart the phone. Here are the steps: Go to settings> apps> tap the three dots in the upper right corner> show system apps> search for the Android WebView system> select Uninstall updates. ^ Nina

If removing the update does not work for you, try uninstalling WebView. To do this, go to the Google Play Store> My Apps & Games> Installed. Android System WebView should appear in this list of installed applications. Touch it and click uninstall. You must then restart your Android device to get the best results.
Remember to reinstall the latest version of WebView as soon as Google fixes the problem. It is an important component that allows applications to display web pages.
In the meantime, if you’re trying to access Gmail, you should use the desktop interface for now. The company also has
acknowledged the problem with Gmail on Android on the Google Workspace status page.
