Amy Schumer deleted Hilaria Baldwin’s posts after the Spanish heritage scandal: ‘I don’t want to be mean’

Amy Schumer revealed why she took down social media posts about Hilaria Baldwin in light of the latter’s recent scandal.

In December, Schumer played with the podcaster and yoga instructor by recreating an image she shared on Instagram of herself hugging her newborn son, Eduardo, wearing only lingerie. The “Trainwreck” star took the picture and posted it on her own Instagram later that day. She played in the caption as if it were Baldwin while pretending that the baby was her own 1 year old son, Gene.

Baldwin released a video commenting on the joke, in which she took her sports, but seemed a little confused by it.

Not long after, a scandal broke out after Hilaria was accused of exaggerating her Spanish heritage. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Schumer noted that he removed the post and another that mocked the scandal after people were “upset” in an effort to get “out of the narrative”.

“It’s a little insane to be, like, lingerie with your baby. I just found it a little funny, and then I saw that she made a video and looked a little upset,” explained Schumer. “Not with me, but about the comments she was getting. I was like, ‘I don’t want to be mean’, and she looked like it might hurt her, so I just wrote it down.”

“We were just playing with each other, and then the Spanish thing came,” she continued. “I felt like everyone was watching. Just like, ‘What’s going on?’ I thought we were still playing, so I wrote, ‘Hey, look, I love Spain too’. But then everything became a big thing and people were really upset, so I just took [too]. “

The comedian started to joke that Baldwin is the “only person who is happy with the Capitol insurrection because she distracted [people]”of your scandal.

Baldwin claimed that she was born in Mallorca, Spain, and raised in Boston. Meanwhile, his CAA speaker page, Wikipedia and IMDB page previously listed his country of birth as Spain. CAA has since removed any mention of his birthplace, while the latter two have made corrections.

Baldwin has since come forward to explain that a combination of false assumptions and reports has led to misunderstanding, but many remain critical of the way she portrays her heritage.

Schumer noted that, despite everything, she still wishes Baldwin and his family the best, joking: “I hope she visits Spain as much as she wants.”
