In a statement to Yahoo Entertainment, Heard’s spokesman said: “We are satisfied – but by no means surprised – with the court’s denial of Mr. Depp’s appeal request. At a hearing last week, Depp’s lawyers argued that Depp did not have a fair trial and said that Heard was not a reliable witness. Appeal judges said the original verdict was not based on Heard’s donation or non-donation of the money. “It is clear from a reading of the trial as a whole that [Nicol] based its conclusions on each of the incidents on its extremely detailed analysis of the specific evidence for each incident, ”said the appeal decision.
Heard said she was “late” in her goal to donate the money because Depp filed a lawsuit against her in Virginia – for defamation for her Washington Post opined on domestic violence – seeking $ 50 million, so instead, she “was forced to spend millions of dollars defending [his] false accusations against her. “
During the trial, Heard witnessed about 14 alleged cases of abuse between 2013 and 2016, including a “three-day hostage” situation in Australia. Depp came out of his role in the film Fantastic animals since the loss of the “women’s beater” decision last year. However, he still received $ 10 million.
Depp’s American lawsuit against Heard was recently postponed to April 2022.
