Allison Janney believes that the end of her show, Mom is “probably related to money”, as the CBS comedy comes to an end after eight seasons

She played Bonnie Plunkett on the award-winning sitcom for eight seasons.

And Allison Janney admitted that Mom’s break came earlier than she expected, as she talked about ending the show, virtually sitting with James Corden on The Late Late Show on Wednesday’s episode.

The 61-year-old actress revealed that she was ‘sad’ about the cancellation of the popular show, but revealed that it was ‘probably money’ like ‘most of them’.

Janney plunged into the confusion surrounding the end of the show with Corden while sitting at home.

“I wish we had at least another year for writers to have so much time to prepare for the finale,” she said. ‘We kind of found out sooner than we thought.

Janey admitted that there may have been “many reasons” behind the decision to end the CBS comedy, but “most of them” were “probably related to money”.

“But I know that Chuck Lorre is writing the final episode and we are now filming the penultimate episode,” explained Janney. “And I’m having a lot of moments when I’m just on set, taking in and looking at all the faces I’ve seen for eight years.”

She won two Emmy Awards for her role as the matriarch of the family, and the program most recently won three Critics Choice Awards nominations, including best comedy series.

She added: ‘It has been a great show to be a part of. And it’s so rare when you do something like that, and it affects people in a positive way in the world. It makes me sad, but forward. ‘

When CBS decided to cancel, Janney wrote on Instagram in February that being on the show was ‘one of the greatest honors of my life’ before thanking a long list of people involved in creating the series.

‘And last but not least, all of our extraordinary fans !!!’ Janney added. ‘Thank you for all your support over the years.’
