Alex Trebek’s daughter pays tribute to ‘Jeopardy!’ host cancer announcement

In an Instagram post, Alex Trebek’s daughter Nicky reflected on the pancreatic cancer ad he made to “Jeopardy!” fans in 2019.

“It was 2 years ago today, while we were working on the @jeopardy set, that my father boldly stepped out in front of the camera to announce that he had been diagnosed with # pancreatic cancer,” wrote Nicky on Saturday, March 7.

“He brought the much-needed # awareness for this terrible disease and gave # hope to so many people who were struggling,” she continued. “I am very proud of him for his courage and integrity throughout his illness.”

The photo she chose to commemorate her late father is one that shows her and Trebek playing signs of peace while attending an event on the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Nicky went on to explain that he is “continuing what he started” and is a supporter of the charity, which allegedly funds pancreatic cancer research, provides support to patients and caregivers, conducts community actions and advocates for greater federal funding for research against the disease .

In her own words, Nicky wrote that she “will fight for everyone affected by pancreatic cancer” and urged her followers to consider making a donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Nicky’s post received a red emoji from his stepmother, Jean Currivan Trebek, 57.

Likewise, she received a kind comment from the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

“Thank you so much for your support in honor of your father, Nicky,” wrote the charity.

The group also posted a post in honor of the late “Jeopardy!” host in relation to your fundamental ad.

“Today marks the second anniversary of Alex Trebek’s announcement of his diagnosis of # pancreatic cancer. In the past two years, he has brought the awareness necessary for the disease,” wrote the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network next to a smiling photo of Trebek. “We are honoring your legacy by continuing to fight for all people affected by pancreatic cancer.”

Trebek died on November 8, aged 80, in stage four of pancreatic cancer.

A year and eight months before his death, Trebek revealed his diagnosis in a life update that he shared with “Jeopardy!” viewers.

“I wanted to be the one to pass on that information,” he told the audience at the time. “Now, like 50,000 others in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Now, the prognosis for that is usually not very encouraging, but I will fight it. And I am going to keep working. , and with the love and support of my family and friends, and with the help of your prayers, too, I intend to overcome the low survival rate statistics for this disease. “
