Alec Baldwin is doing his best to keep his wife Hilaria Baldwin in dire straits despite the criticism she received last week for allegedly “pretending” to be Spanish.
The yoga expert, 36, is at the center of a scandal after it was revealed that she was actually born and raised in Boston, not in Spain, as she suggested.
The mother of five has been quiet on social media for the past few days. A source told People magazine that she and Alec called in the New Year in the Hamptons.
As she apparently remains “upset” by the reaction, the source said the “30 Rock” star “is around to comfort her.”

“He has supported and tried to cheer her up,” continued the source.
Meanwhile, one of Hilaria’s “close” friends told the magazine that the scandal was surprising.
“She loves to talk about her Spanish heritage and seemed to want people to believe that she was Spanish,” said the friend.
Hilaria’s friend added that Hilaria wants her five children – whom she refers to as “Baldwinitos” on social media – “to know that they are half Spanish”. “It is important for her that the children speak Spanish. And they all have Spanish names.”

The problem started for the Baldwin family last month when a Twitter user fired a deleted tweet that said, “You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decade-old grift, where she pretends to be a Spaniard.”
The online message sparked detectives to investigate Hilaria’s story and discover that, despite previous allegations, she was not born in Spain, but in Boston. She had already claimed in a podcast in April 2020, “I moved here [to America] when I was 19 years old to go to NYU from … my family lives in Spain, they live in Mallorca. “
The accent of the bilingual mother of five also fluctuated noticeably over the years when she appeared on TV. In a goddamn clip from “Today”, she seems to forget the English word for “cucumber”.

Alec made similar claims, once claiming about David Letterman in 2013 that “my wife is from Spain”.
Hilaria addressed online criticism in a video. “There have been some questions about where I was born, I was born in Boston … I spent part of my childhood in Boston, part of my childhood in Spain, my family, my brother, my parents, my nephew, everyone is there in Spain now, I’m here, “she explained.
So, speaking to The New York Times, Hilaria called the viral controversy “surreal” and said there are misconceptions about how it came out.

“There is nothing I am doing wrong and I think there is a difference between hiding and creating a limit,” said Hilaria.
Meanwhile, his CAA speaker page, Wikipedia and IMDB page all previously listed his country of birth as Spain. Since then, CAA has removed any mention of her birthplace, while the latter two have made corrections. Speaking in his last interview, Baldwin blames the fake report and says he never actively misrepresented his inheritance.

“The things I shared about me are very clear,” said Baldwin. “I was born in Boston. I spent time in Boston and Spain. My family now lives in Spain. I moved to New York when I was 19 and have lived here ever since. For me, I feel like I have spent 10 years sharing this story over and over . And now it seems that it is not enough. “
