Actress Lori Loughlin released from federal prison in East Bay – NBC Bay Area

Actress Lori Loughlin was released on Monday from a federal prison in Dublin after serving a two-month sentence for her participation in the college admission scandal that federal investigators dubbed Operation Varsity Blues.

It was unclear what time Loughlin was released from prison, but a prison official confirmed to the NBC Bay Area that she was released.

Loughlin surrendered to federal authorities almost three weeks earlier, in late October, after making a public apology for his role in a widespread cheating scandal that saw several celebrities pay large sums of money to place their children at elite universities. under false pretenses.

Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Gianniulli reportedly paid $ 500,000 to have their two daughters admitted to the University of Southern California under the guise of athletic recruitment for the school’s staff.

Gianniulli is still serving his five-month sentence in a federal prison in Lompoc, California.

The actress and her stylist husband also paid heavy fines and pledged to do hundreds of hours of community service.

Loughlin was part of the general prison population and had to be tested for COVID-19. Like other inmates at the unit, she had no access to visitors because of the pandemic.

The prison had a coronavirus outbreak that affected 185 of its 900 inmates, along with three prison officials.

Dublin prison is the same facility where actress Felicity Huffman served 12 days in October 2019 for her participation in the college admission scandal.
