“It put me in a dark situation,” Camp said in an NC Lottery press release. “But I have many friends and family who have told me to continue to persist, believing in myself.”
But when he thought life couldn’t get any worse, Camp won the lottery.
“Thursday morning, I went to the store and bought a ticket to shave as I usually do,” said Camp. “And I bought two tickets. I didn’t win the first one, so I tried the second one and scratched, and fell to my knees at the gas station.”
Camp, who is a father and grandfather, won a $ 250,000 gold rush ticket, which he says he plans to use in his family. He says he wants to save for his daughter’s education and buy a new home that he plans to pass on to his loved ones.
“What I intend to do with my earnings is to have a future for my daughter,” he said. “I want to have something for us. I never had anything. Nobody transmitted anything, and that’s what I want to do.”
