A Mario 64 lightning tracking mod? Right

That water though

I don’t think I can accurately assess how many times I played Mario 64. Whether on the original hardware, on the DS or in various media / virtual console collection, all levels are engraved in my brain. But not quite.

In the video with the provocative name “I bought a $ 1500 GPU (an RTX 3090) to play Super Mario 64 with RTX”, shows YouTuber Dario Mario 64 with radius tracking. Now, this video showing Wet-Dry World is a little old, but it represents an ongoing project, which may eventually see the light of day.

No matter how long you try to keep the classics, it’s a losing battle. People are going to hold the water for this type of game forever, and I have to say that it is a blast to see the wonderful game designs preserved like this a million times.

Of course, the community is very polarized in terms of how much lightning-tracking effects really add to the game. It is a little more advanced than many other mod projects over the years (that “enhance” the look of the Mario 64), but it looks great to me. A diverse range of projects is never a bad thing.
