Trump’s legal team left after a furious wage dispute, says the report

It was reported last week that Donald Trump’s impeachment legal team disintegrated days before the trial began, for fear that the former president would force them to continue selling his ridiculous electoral conspiracy theories. But, according to Axios, that is not the whole story. Trump and the man chosen to be his chief lawyer, Butch Bowers, had a furious disagreement over the payment. Bowers and Trump initially reportedly agreed to a $ 250,000 fee for their individual services, but then Bowers returned to Trump with a list of other expenses for more lawyers, as well as researchers. Axios reports that Bowers’ total payment request reached $ 3 million, which “enraged” Trump, who tried to haggle Bowers back to $ 1 million. Trump’s stinginess is said to have prompted five members of Trump’s legal impeachment team to withdraw. Trump announced his new team of Bruce Castor and David Schoen over the weekend.
