4-year-old child discovers 220 million-year-old dinosaur footprint in Wales

Lily Wilder, four, was walking the dog with her father when she made an unusual discovery on a Wales beach after she noticed a perfectly preserved dinosaur footprint left 220 million years ago. The area is a protected site known for its fossils, but no one had previously noticed this mark that was on a low rock in sight of the child, according to Welsh officials. The stone will be taken to the Cardiff National Museum, and Wilder’s name will be listed as its official “finder”.

Wilder, who loves dinosaurs according to his mother, described the discovery. “He was on a low rock, about Lily’s shoulders, and she just saw him and said, ‘Look, Daddy,'” his mother Sally Wilder, 41, told NBC News. “She is very excited, but she cannot understand how incredible this is.”
