2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport roars with special launch edition

Last month, Lexus started what it is calling the IS F Sport Performance label and, with that, launched the line at 2022 IS 500 F Sport Performance. On Friday, the company shared a special batch of these cars to mark the arrival in 2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance Launch Edition. Yes, it’s a mouth full of a name, I know, but I don’t give Lexus the cards.

What car is this? A seriously limited production vehicle with only 500 planned. In addition, the Americans are the only ones to receive the IS 500 F Sport Performance Launch Edition. It is a safe bet that most of them will end up in the United States. The special edition is not terribly different from the standard IS 500, but it looks pretty good with a few extra touches. Notably, the car runs on a set of 19-inch BBS wheels, which also reduce the final weight of the IS 500. The color, called Incognito, is also exclusive to the F Sport Performance Launch Edition and really emphasizes the black wheels and other details. The latest IS may not be entirely new, but I think the renewed look, overall, is great. These additions look even better.

Inside, Lexus dresses each of the 500 cars with black and gray Ultrasuede material to decorate the seats, doors and center console, while the steering wheel is finished in silver ash wood. The sports performance emblem is a given here, but each car also has a serialized sign commemorating each car as one of the 500. Oh, and starting the car reveals a different startup animation compared to other IS 500 models.

Lexus said it plans to share a few more details about the launch edition and the IS 500 F Sport Performance standard closer to when the cars prepare for launch this fall.
