The Los Angeles Lakers made their first major team change of the season by releasing Quinn Cook before their contract was fully secured on February 27. The Lakers now have an open spot, as well as more space under the hard cover than would be possible if Cook’s contract was fully guaranteed.
The Lakers will eventually use that spot on the roster, probably for a purchased player. It has been reported that the Lakers are unlikely to meet with DeMarcus Cousins, so at this point, we are simply waiting for the takeover market to develop to see who will actually be available.
What we do know is that Quinn Cook will probably not be alone. Whether through negotiation or cutting, the Lakers will likely split from at least one other member of the list to make room for improvement.
The Lakers have several players at the end of the rotation who are not playing and who could be dismissed easily. Furthermore, recent history indicates that they will move in that direction. Troy Daniels and Cousins were the two players from last season who failed to make it to the end of the season.
The Los Angeles Lakers have candidates on who to cut / switch next
Realistically, there are two players that the Los Angeles Lakers could potentially leave after cutting Quinn Cook. One of these players can be released and the other is a potential exchange chip, although I do not rule out an exchange.
Here are two players who could follow Quinn Cook’s example and end up on a different basketball team this season.
