URBANA – Local authorities are suing two more restaurant operators in Champaign County after both restaurants reportedly remained open after their medical licenses were suspended.

Accused of violating the law for operating without a valid health license were Charles Buck of Billy Bob’s, 105 E. Broadway St., Ogden, and Jeff Buckler, owner of Lil Bufords, 102 N. Long St., Tolono.

The Champaign County Department of Public Health suspended authorizations for both restaurants after they were allegedly observed serving indoors, in violation of a state order.

Covered service in both bars and restaurants is currently banned due to the spread of COVID-19.

Lil Buford’s authorization was suspended on December 17 and Billy Bob’s authorization was suspended on December 11.

Buck and Buckler were scheduled to go to court on January 21.

At the end of last week, Champaign County public health officials suspended seven health permits in connection with violating state order, serving indoors.
