The planned return of several episodes of Lauren Graham to Zoey’s extraordinary playlist in season 2 it was cut dramatically.
O Gilmore Girls The veterinarian – who appeared in the first season of NBC’s musical comedy as Jane Levy’s on-screen boss Joan – announced on Twitter Tuesday that she will be leaving the series after the season 2 premiere. “Joan is only there for a moment,” Graham said of tonight’s opening, before revealing that “plans to do more [were] frustrated by pandemic-related programming problems. “
Please watch the first episode of @ZoeysPlaylist tonight! Joan is only there for a little while (plans to do more frustrated by pandemic-related scheduling issues), but I’m so excited to watch the incredible @jcolburnlevy and company. xLhttps: //t.co/9klEicHMCR

In an interview with TVLine, Zoey’s playlist showrunner Austin Winsberg confirms that Graham’s involvement in Season 2 was “unfortunately just a sad scheduling victim”, adding, “When Lauren signed on to do [Disney+’s] Powerful ducks [reboot], they were due to start filming in March, and they would be done well in advance so she could return for the second season. But because of the pandemic, and the way it all happened, their filming schedule ended up being exactly the same as the filming schedule for our show.
“I had plans for Joan to be on several episodes of the show,” he continues, “and unfortunately, we just had to make a misstep, because there was no way for Lauren to be able to do both at the same time. “
At the premiere (read our post mortem), viewers learned that Joan of Graham moved to Singapore to work. (With reporting by Vlada Gelman)
