Zara Tindall paid tribute to her grandfather, Prince Philip, by selecting a middle name for her newborn son, Lucas Philip Tindall.
The news of the name came a week after Prince Philip, 99, returned home to Windsor Castle, after a four-week hospitalization after heart surgery. Zara, 39, is the daughter of Princess Anne – who is one of Prince Philip’s four children with Queen Elizabeth II – and Mark Phillips.
The child’s middle name is also a tribute to the paternal grandfather, according to the London Times.
Lucas is the third child of Zara and her husband Mike Tindall, a former English rugby star. They are also the parents of daughters Mia Grace, 7, and Lena Elizabeth, 2.
Baby Lucas – who is 22nd in the line of succession – had a very unique arrival over the weekend, with father Mike, 42, revealing that Zara gave birth at home on the bathroom floor.
The newborn “arrived very quickly – failed to reach the hospital – on the bathroom floor,” said Mike on Wednesday on the podcast “O Bom, o Mau eo Rugby”, which he co-presents.
Mike, who has been married to Zara since 2011, said their midwife came home on time.
“She appeared in the same way that we had assumed the pose [position] and the second midwife arrived right after the head arrived, ”said Mike.
Zara had previously stated that she had suffered two miscarriages before the birth of daughter Lena in 2018.
