The next version of the director of Zack Snyder’s Justice League it hasn’t even been released on HBO Max yet, but it already has a Blu-ray release planned for the summer. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment confirmed that the 4-hour cut Justice League will be available for purchase in 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray sometime in late May 2021.
Although the studio has yet to confirm an exact release date in the US and UK for the Blu-ray version of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, there are confirmed dates for Germany and Australia. Australia will be the first territory to enjoy Snyder Cut Blu-ray, as DVDs will be available there from May 26. This will be followed by a launch in Germany on May 27, the following day.
While there is no confirmation that Blu-ray discs will come with exclusive extras, as with other Blu-ray movie purchases, you can certainly hope for that. Reports suggest that the Blu-ray package for the Snyder Cut will contain two separate discs, one of which is the triple layer BD-100. Since this disc is capable of storing 100 GB of data, it must include the entire 4-hour movie on one disc, leaving the second full of extras and behind the scenes. However, no details of this type can be confirmed so far.
The information on Blu-ray.com confirms that the discs will support HDR10’s High Dynamic Range along with Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 sound. Support for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision for Zack Snyder’s Justice League it will also be available on HBO Max. In addition, like HBO Max, the Blu-ray version of the movie will be available in the same ratio of 1: 33: 1.
It’s exciting that the release of Blu-ray for Snyder Cut is announced before its debut. Warner Bros. drastically changed its approach this year to content availability. These decisions are mainly influenced by the restrictions associated with the pandemic imposed on theatrical releases. On the other hand, many of these moves could focus on better consumer response and subscription goals for HBO Max. Zack Snyder’s Justice League and its exclusive launch on HBO Max served as a major commercial for the new streaming platform, which instantly increased its subscription demands. In addition, Warner Bros. ended up announcing a side-by-side release of all of its productions scheduled for a theatrical debut in 2021, on limited screens and on HBO Max, on the same day. This will include a release + streaming in theaters of major films, such as Godzilla vs. Kong, Mortal combat, Suicide squad, and Matrix 4.
In addition to the Blu-ray version, Snyder has already finished working on the black and white edition of his film entitled Justice League: Justice Is Gray, for which he can proceed with the exclusive launch of HBO Max. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is almost here and will be broadcast by HBO Max and other digital streaming and VoD partners in international territories on March 18.
