Why not break into a casino safe during a zombie apocalypse?

Netflix

The first trailer for Director Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, about a group of mercenaries planning a robbery at a Las Vegas casino during a zombie apocalypse, was released on Thursday. Nowadays, Snyder may be best known for superhero movies (and the Justice League Snyder Court, aired on HBO Max on March 18), but his first feature film was the 2004 remake of George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, so he meets his undead.

I’m not sure why money is a concern in the zombie apocalypse, but for each of them. Snyder shared the trailer in a tweet, saying “What happens in Vegas, should stay in Vegas.”

The trailer shows a now desolate Las Vegas, overtaken by a huge horde of zombies. In true Vegas style, we even see an Elvis impersonator in the undead crowd. We also catch a glimpse of star Dave Bautista and his team facing zombies with great firepower, while Matthias Schweighofer’s character sports the classic studded baseball bat.

Bautista, also known as Drax, the Destroyer of the Guardians of the Galaxy films, announced that the preview would come with a tweet Wednesday showing a picture of the actor and a large pile of bodies. Other stars include Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi and Tig Notaro.

Army of the Dead is scheduled for release on May 21 on Netflix. And if you like the concept, you’re in luck. Deadline informs that a movie prequel and an anime series are planned.
