Zack Snyder’s first teaser trailer Army of the Dead it arrived. On Sunday, Snyder tweeted the poster for the next film, revealing the May 21 release date for the zombie assault movie, but also revealed that the first teaser would arrive online as well. Set to debut on Netflix, Army of the Dead is Snyder’s first post-DC project. The film is about a robbery at a casino vault during a zombie apocalypse and stars Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista as the leader of the group. The film also stars Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Garret Dillahunt, Raul Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro and Matthias Schweighofer.
“It’s a full zombie assault movie, so it’s genre about genre in a great way,” said Snyder Weekly entertainment. “So you expect pure zombie confusion and you get it, 100 percent. But you also get these really amazing characters on a fantastic journey. It will surprise people that there is a lot of warmth and real emotion with these great characters.”
“With Dawn, we made a zombie movie, but we tried to do it at once with all the tropes of the genre,” added the director. “It was so fun, so I started thinking about what other genres the story didn’t have space for. It’s that tone where you have fun with the genre, but don’t make fun of the genre – it’s a fine line.”
Recently Snyder said that filming Army of the Dead was one of his best filmmakers experiences whenever it allowed you to get behind the camera again.
“When I did TV commercials, I was the cinematographer. You know, for 12 years, and practically not all of the work, but most of the work I did myself. And I really like that,” said Snyder when talking to Minutemen’s YouTube channel. “And really, part of the reason is that, you know, the bigger the movies get, the more you move away from the camera. The more infrastructure there is between you and the type of cinematic experience. You don’t touch the world as closely.”
He continued: “And so, I just felt that with the Army it was a great opportunity to be really close to photography and actors. Frankly, everyone is like ‘how can you shoot and direct the film’ and I ‘I think it’s incredibly easy because the actors are there and talking is easy. The pace is easy because I can just work that way. It’s very good. It was really one of the best and most satisfying experiences. I made a movie in that respect. “
