Zack Snyder addresses the CGI removal of Henry Cavill’s superman mustache

Zack Snyder is tackling the horrific CGI removal of Henry Cavill’s Superman mustache that made his way into the Joss Whedon Justice League hack.

Three years later Justice League successful in theaters, Zack Snyder addresses the CGI removal of Henry Cavill’s Superman mustache. THE Justice League Snyder Cut finally made it to HBO Max, and it’s been a long way to release the film. After Joss Whedon took over the production of Justice League, the film went through extensive reshoots, which helped to Justice League failing at the box office and with critics. From 2017 Justice League was criticized for several reasons, but one of the main complaints was the lackluster CGI of the film.

Two of the most notable examples are Steppenwolf and Superman. Steppenwolf’s design has been completely changed to the theatrical cut, since Warner Bros. he found Snyder’s version very scary. The entire design of Steppenwolf was changed in the Whedon version, but only part of Superman was adjusted with CGI, his lip. Why Justice League He remade several scenes once Whedon took over, Cavill was asked to remake the scenes as the Man of Steel. The only problem was that Cavill was filming Mission: Impossible – Fallout, in which he has a mustache. Since Paramount didn’t let you scratch for Justice Leaguein reshoots, the effects department resorted to digitally removing it. The result was less than perfect.

People have been criticizing the badly dull mustache for years, and now Snyder himself has commented on the matter. In an interview with MTV News, Snyder was asked what he thought when he first saw Cavill’s CGI face in Justice League. The director’s full commentary can be read below.

“I only saw it in memes. It was funny because part of me is happy that we managed not to be the total legacy of the hard work he has done in the last ten years, you know? It is sad to think that this could have been the last view that people had of Superman was with this, whatever it is. “

Of course, in the Justice League Snyder Cut, Snyder did not include the footage with Cavill’s CGI lip. In fact, the director refused to use anything in his film that Whedon had shot during the 2017 reshoots. Several of the theatrical cut problems were fixed in the Snyder cut. Kal-El’s story, as well as that of each of the superheroes, was further developed. The Snyder Cut featured some additional Superman scenes, some of which were reused Steel man and Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. In addition, Superman finally managed to wear his famous black suit after his resurrection, which many were clamoring to see.

The mustache disaster was one of the most talked about problems in 2017 Justice League, so it only makes sense for Snyder to comment on it now that his movie is on HBO Max. If Snyder Cut hadn’t been released, this really could have been the last version that fans of Cavill’s Superman would have seen. Warner Bros. not interested in seeing Snyder’s undoing Justice League sequences, and a reboot of Superman is already in development, which is supposed to star in a Black actor. Cavill’s Superman iteration is probably over, but at least the Justice League Snyder Cut provided viewers with an unchanged version of the actor’s face.
