Zach Braff struck a deal to star with Gabrielle Union in Cheaper by the Dozen, the reimagination of the successful 2003 comedy being developed for Disney +.

black creator Kenya Barris co-wrote the script and is producing the project to be directed by Gail Lerner. Lerner worked with Barris on black as an executive writer-producer and director.

The story centers on a multiracial family and a mix of 12 people, navigating a hectic home life while running the family business.

Braff will interpret the father opposite the Union as the mother.

Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt starred in the 2003 film directed by Shawn Levy and the sequel directed by Adam Shankman. The films were loose readings of two successful comedies from the early 1950s based on the books of two brothers who wrote about their upbringing in a large family.

A premiere in 2022 is being planned for the new Dozen.

Braff is best known for starring in NBC’s long-running comedy, Scrubs. Most recently, he appeared in indie films Percy and The Comeback Trail, the latter a police comedy with Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones.

He is represented by CAA and Management 360.
