YouTuber Grace Victory wakes up from 3 month COVID coma

British YouTuber Grace Victory, who was put into an induced coma on Christmas Day, the day after giving birth to her son, is now awake and can share some good news herself.

“The boy is fine at home,” wrote Victory on Twitter earlier this week.

Victory contracted COVID-19 while pregnant and had to give birth to her son, who she shares with boyfriend Lee β€œLPW” Williams, two months before the due date due to breathing problems.

In a statement shared on Instagram in December, Victory’s family said their condition was “stable” and that the baby was “doing well”.

Victory’s sister Charleigh went to Instagram to ask for prayers.

“I know she had to do this, she knows that she had to do this, she just needs that time to rest, so she comes back stronger and in the form of a fight,” revealed Charleigh. “She received new superpowers, since she is a mother now, her biggest dream has come true and her son (who is absolutely unbelievable) really, really needs mom.”

Charleigh added that Lee, a musician, “needs his twin flame”.

When contracted during pregnancy, coronavirus increases the risk of serious illness in the mother, including the need for admission to the ICU or a ventilator and adverse pregnancy outcomes, including premature and stillbirths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention .

The COVID-19 vaccine is available for pregnant women.

Former active director of the CDC, Dr. Richard Besser, who appeared in the 3rd hour of TODAY earlier this month, said that pregnant women should weigh their risk of exposure.

“If you are in a situation where you are very likely to be exposed to COVID, then vaccination is something you should consider because science suggests it is safe,” explained Besser. “There is nothing about vaccines that have been licensed so far that raise warning signs.”
