While YouTUbe and Twitch can be called similar in a variety of ways, it is also important to know that the two services are inherently different and cater to an entirely different audience. YouTube is more focused on video sharing, while Twitch is all about streaming, whatever you want to broadcast. However, YouTube has started testing a cropping feature on the platform, which allows creators to capture small segments of their videos or live streams. The feature is now available on desktop and Android devices, but will soon be available on iOS devices.
YouTube makes it easy for creators to save their clips by adding a feature similar to Twitch.
Lester, the global head of game creators, announced this on Twitter.
Today we are launching a trial version of Clips on YouTube. Check out the videos on the Creator Insider channel and test it yourself!
The clips are 5 to 60 seconds, shareable, segments of content (live / VOD) that remain on top of the original video.

However, there is nothing new about this feature. Clipping has been around on Twitch for some time now, and YouTube says it will start testing this feature with a small group of creators at the start. However, it plans to make new updates and features based on feedback received from such creators.
The Clips feature on YouTube will allow creators and connected users to select a 5 to 60 second segment of their uploads and video streams, which they can then share across multiple social media platforms. However, it is important to know that the clips will not be made of videos made for children, live streams without a DVR, live streams over 8 hours in length or premieres that are still live.
Once you start watching an eligible video on YouTube, you’ll need to click the clip icon below the video to create and share a clip. When the clip box appears, you’ll need to select the section of the video you’d like to trim and give it a title. The next step is to click the Share clip button to access all the sharing options that you will have access to.
Honestly, YouTube bringing this option is just a way to further diversify, but we can’t use this feature at the time of writing, but let’s wait for a word from the creators to see if it’s similar to what Twitch has been doing since 2016.
