Younger creator Darren Star reveals that two regular characters were demoted last season

Hilary Duff, Sutton Foster and Nico Tortorella are back for the seventh and final season of Younger.

But some familiar faces will take a step back from the beloved TV Land series in its final episodes.

The 59-year-old actor told TVLine: ‘Due to the schedule and issues related to Covid, Miriam Shor and Charles Michael Davis were unable to be regulars in the seventh season cast.

‘However, they will always be a much loved and integral part of the Younger family and have added a lot of heart and soul to the series.’

Shor, 49, has been a regular on the show since its debut in 2015, starring as Diana Trout, Liza’s nervous boss at Empirical Press.

Davis, 36, joined the show as a recurring character in season four, before being upgraded to regular as Zane Anders, when his playful rivalry with Hilary Duff’s Kelsey Peters became romantic.

The end of the sixth season ended with Diana marrying her plumber boyfriend Enzo (Chris Tardio) while Kelsey and Zane’s relationship heated up.

According to the official logline for the seventh season: ‘Last season, Liza’s personal life is on shaky ground as she tries to stay true to herself. After a setback at work, Kelsey doubts his career decisions and discovers a new creative outlet. Maggie is canceled.

The first four episodes air on April 15 on Paramount + (followed by Hulu), before the rest of the season airs weekly on Thursdays, all airing later this year on TV Land.
