Happy 41st birthday, Zooey Deschanel!
On Sunday, Jonathan Scott paid a sweet tribute to his girlfriend’s birthday, calling her his “favorite person”.
“You are thoughtful, talented, hilarious, sweet and as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. I know we can’t celebrate like we did last year, but I have some surprises up my sleeve,” wrote Scott on Instagram next to a slide show of photos of the couple and New girl actress.
Last year, Deschanel turned 40 at an 80s themed party and dressed in big hair, colorful makeup and neon clothes.
“You fill my life with so much joy❤️,” Property Brothers star, 42, added.
Earlier this month, the HGTV star shared an affectionate post in early 2021, giving Deschanel a sweet thanks for the love she gave him.
“I am dedicating this year to love, happiness and the search to help others”, the Celebrity IOU star wrote next to a photo of the couple embracing. “I feel like I got off to a good start on the love side.”

Deschanel also shared a cute post dedicated to Scott. “My 2020 MVP was this guy, who always made me feel happy, despite a strange and uncertain year,” wrote the actress.
“Expecting 2021 to be fraught with frustrations for everyone,” added the mother of two.

Deschanel and Scott met in the summer of 2019 while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke together. Scott previously told PEOPLE that “there was chemistry immediately” during the shoot and they made their relationship official in August of that year.
The couple celebrated their one-year anniversary in August, two months after Deschanel and her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik finalized their divorce.
Deschanel and Pechenik, 48, met on the set of Bill Murray’s comedy Rock the Kasbah. They confirmed their engagement in January 2015 and were married in June. After three and a half years of marriage, they separated on January 8, 2019. Nine months later, Pechenik filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences”.

The pair have two children together – daughter Elsie, 5, and son Charlie, 3 – and are in joint custody, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
In November, Scott toyed with rumors that he and Deschanel had become engaged.
“I am quite confident that I will ask my girlfriend to marry me before I tell a reporter,” he joked during an interview with SiriusXM.

When celebrating his birthday, Deschanel wrote fondly on Instagram: “A year ago, today I met this guy, affectionate, hilarious, generous, creative, nerdy, handsome and totally incredible human.”
The actress added: “I am very grateful for every smile, kiss, hug, warmth, laugh, fighting game, escape room, breakfast, lunch and dinner that we share together. Even during the strangest year for humanity, I want to a million billion more with you. 🥰. “
