Like most beautiful things, this PS2-inspired custom PS5 won’t be long in this world when it goes on sale later this week.
SUP3R5 is releasing a grand total of 304 “retro-inspired” PS5s on Friday, January 8 at exactly 12pm PST / 3pm EST / 8pm GMT. Consoles are shipped internationally, although you pay more for shipping if you live outside the U.S. Of course, if you’re already paying for a branded custom PS5, you’re probably not worried about shipping costs.
You can get the PS5 themed PS2 with DualSense controller and disc drive for $ 649 (compared to $ 499 at retail), and it comes with colorful logo inserts, or if you just want the controller, you can get o Personalized DualSense for $ 99 ($ 70 at retail) Consoles are expected to ship in late spring 2021, but SUP3R5 says the weather “may change based on availability”.
Some important things to note: Since builders will need to completely disassemble DualSense, the manufacturer’s warranty will be voided in the customization process. The PS5 itself will not be taken apart, so you will keep the console warranty. SUP3R5 does not offer its own warranty, but assures customers that it will do its best to resolve “functional or cosmetic problems related to retro conversion.”
If you are concerned that the 300 precious PS5 themed PS2s will be devoured by money changers immediately, SUP3R5 says it will take steps to work around the problem. In addition to “security measures”, console orders will be limited to one per household, while controllers will be limited to two units per household.
