Yellowstone Prequel Spinoff Series Y: 1883 Coming to Paramount Plus

Yeehaw! Yellowstonethe origin story will soon be told.

ViacomCBS and MTV Entertainment Group announced on Friday that they not only extended their contract with series creator Taylor Sheridan, but also launched a prequel series, to broadcast on Paramount + (currently known as CBS All Access) in 2021.

According to the official logline: Y: 1883follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west across the Great Plains towards the last bastion of untamed America. It is a reinterpretation of western expansion and an intense study of a family fleeing poverty in search of a better future in the promised land of America – Montana ”.

To know Sheridan’s work in Yellowstone, will also be … absolutely tough.

That the series would have an unfolding is small no surprise. The third season’s premiere was the most watched cable season premiere in two years, and its ending brought the best numbers of all time. Not by chance, that culminating hour left the fate in the air not only of John Dutton (Kevin Costner), but of two of his sons, Kayce (Luke Grimes) and Beth (Kelly Reilly). (You can relive the highlights of the season in the photo gallery above.)

In addition to breaking the news, Paramount + released a small teaser in which someone – John Sr., we presume – utters menacingly, “I don’t care if you live or die, but if you live, tell them about me.” Viewers will have an even better sense of 1883 of a preview that airs during Super Bowl Sunday.

You can check out the first teaser by pressing PLAY in the video below. So, please get the comments right. It’s either no glad we’re getting more Yellowstone?
