Yavapai County reports 45 new cases of COVID-19, 2 new deaths | The Daily Courier

Yavapai County Community Health Services reported 45 new cases of COVID-19 and two additional deaths overnight, according to a press release on Friday afternoon.

Yavapai County tested 98,013 residents with 16,956 positive cases, 7,133 recovered and 423 deaths.

The Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott is caring for 24 patients with COVID-19, while the YRMC in Prescott Valley is caring for six.

In Cottonwood, Verde Valley Medical Center reports nine cases of COVID-19.

Prescott VA said it is handling two cases of COVID-19.

STATE NUMBERS

The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 2,426 additional cases of COVID-19 and 172 deaths, according to a statement.

These totals bring the pandemic totals in Arizona to 793,532 cases and 14,834 deaths.

The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 continued to decline, with 2,396 occupying hospital beds on Thursday, February 11, below the pandemic peak of 5,082 on January 11, according to the state’s coronavirus panel.

Seven-day continuous averages of new daily cases and daily deaths have dropped in the past two weeks, according to data from The COVID Tracking Project.

The moving average of new daily cases fell from 6,184.3 on January 28 to 2,758.6 on Thursday, while the moving average of daily deaths fell from 149.6 to 130 during the same period.

The number of infections is believed to be much higher than reported, because many people have not been tested and studies suggest that people can be infected with the virus without feeling bad.

VACCINE

COVID-19 vaccinations will help protect you against receiving COVID-19. You may experience some side effects, which are normal signs that your body is building protection. These side effects can affect your ability to perform daily activities, but they should disappear within a few days, according to YCCHS spokesman Terri Farneti.

SIDE EFFECTS

In the arm where you received the injection, you may experience pain and swelling. In the rest of the body, the person receiving the vaccine may experience fever, chills, tiredness and headache.

When to call the doctor? In most cases, the discomfort caused by fever or pain is normal. But, to be sure, here are two things to note:

– If the redness or tenderness where you gave the injection increases after 24 hours

-If your side effects worry you or don’t seem to go away after a few days.

Some people experience more serious side effects after the second dose. The Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are administered in two doses, spaced about 28 and 21 days apart, respectively.

More users of V-safe, the CDC’s tool for reporting side effects of the vaccine, reported side effects within a week after receiving their second injection compared to the first, according to a CDC update on January 27.

LOCAL POD UPDATE

According to the ADHS Vaccine Administration Dashboard, Yavapai County administered approximately 42,000 COVID-19 vaccines with 37,650 first doses and 4,375 second doses.
