Yankees Rougned Odor negotiates with Rangers

NEW YORK – The Yankees are finalizing a deal to acquire Rangers striker Rougned Odor, a source told MLB.com on Tuesday. The clubs did not announce the transaction.

Texas is expected to take over almost all of the remaining $ 27 million of Odor’s contract over the next two seasons. The 27-year-old was assigned for assignment on March 29, and projects to serve in depth for New York.

It is not yet known what the Yankees will send to the Rangers. MLB Network insider Joel Sherman reported that two potential customers are going to Texas.

Left-handed Odor hit 0.167 with 10 home runs and 30 RBIs in 38 games for Texas last season. He has a career cut line of .237 / .289 / .439 (88 OPS +) in 858 major league games for 2014-20, all with Rangers. But he hit 30 or more home runs in a season three times in his career.

Odor played only second base in his major league career, a position regularly held by DJ LeMahieu, the Yankees’ most valuable player for the past two seasons.
