The popular streamer xQc ended up having to explain why he had a folder called “cheats” on his PC after accidentally revealing his live folder menu screen on the stream. The reason behind this was far more innocent than some fans expected.
Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel is one of the most popular streamers on Twitch, with a follower count of over 4.4 million. Thanks to the huge amount of streaming that he does, it’s no wonder that on a daily basis something dramatic or hilarious happens live. This time, people thought that Felix had really confused when he accidentally revealed the computer screen in the middle of the video. Lengyel made things worse, seeming to panic when the screen appeared, probably just worried that something private might have been accidentally shown. xQc explained that it had a mute button and, when clicking, ended up pulling a screen full of files. The folder names included ‘Battery’, ‘Bit and Sub Badge Files’, along with games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Fall Guys. However, it didn’t take long for a folder to catch the viewers’ attention: a so-called ‘Cheats’. Almost as soon as the page was opened, it was closed, but the chat was able to locate the suspiciously named folder and flooded xQc with comments about it. Felix then explained why exactly the folder has that name, and was much less incriminating than it initially appeared. “These are Minecraft mod packs. I have a ‘cheat’ folder, this is how it works. ”After a moment of reflection, he said“ oh, actually, it’s not even Minecraft. It’s Pokémon. I’m dumb, actually a Pokémon. “ “Whenever you download a game like Pokémon and have a randomizer and its randomizer, there is something called ‘cheats’, and these cheats are like making the game different,” he continued. “If you are doing a certain race, you have to use a cheat folder. It’s called cheats because you’re cheating the game, you’re cheating. To make it harder or easier. “ That didn’t stop the chat from making jokes about the accidental disclosure, but at least Felix’s explanation illuminated the real reason he had a folder called cheats on his computer. Using any type of cheats or hacks in games is actually against the guidelines of the Twitch community (not to mention it will likely get you banned from the game too). So, of course, xQc will stay away from anything unpleasant during games. However, mods are allowed on Twitch, as long as it does not “give the account owner an unfair advantage in an online multiplayer game”.
