Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, will announce a flagship smartphone next month, without the corresponding price.
Redmi executive Wang Teng Thomas revealed that the company’s next device, the Redmi K40, will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The The Weibo post also says that the phone will have a 4,000 mAh battery and the “most expensive straight screen”, something that can be interpreted, but implies that the device will also have impressive screen specifications.
According to previous rumors, the K40 will offer a high refresh rate, probably 120 Hz, just like its predecessor.
Other than that, rumors point to 33W fast charging, a perforated cutout for the front shooter, an array of four cameras at the rear and a 3.5mm audio connector.
Now comes the best part. Thomas says the phone will cost 2,999 Chinese yuan, which is about $ 464. Sure, it might cost a little more in countries outside of China, but even so, it would be one of the most affordable Android flagships of 2021. To that end comparison, the next The Samsung Galaxy S21, which will likely have the same chip, is expected to cost around $ 899.
That said, keep in mind that the K40 will be more of a budget flagship and can save on certain premium features like LPDDR5 RAM and OLED panel.
