As part of the international launch event Mi 11, Xiaomi also announced the launch of MIUI 12.5 soon. The new version may be just a one-time release, but it adds some careful touches to the Xiaomi ROM, like improvements in CPU usage and uninstallable system apps. It is being released for the Mi 11 and some other new phones first.

The new version of the Android skin comes with a redesigned user interface and less overloaded CPU, which allows for longer battery life and smoother animations. The update will allow you to uninstall most applications from the system, except for a small number of critical applications. There are also new “super” wallpapers on board, new sounds and enhanced interoperability features for Windows, similar to Microsoft’s Your Phone app.

MIUI 12.5 will be launched on the first phones in the second quarter of 2021, starting with the Mi 11, Mi 10T, Mi 10T Pro, Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. A second wave arriving later in the second quarter will bring the update to more devices: Mi 10 Lite 5G, Mi 10T Lite, Mi Note 10 Pro, Mi Note 10, Mi Note 10 Lite, Redmi Note 9T, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 9S, Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 8 Pro and Redmi 9. The Xiaomi will announce other devices later.

Although you still have to be patient for a while, you will soon be able to get your hands on the latest stable version of MIUI. You will receive a notification when the new firmware is available on your phone.
