Xiaomi Mi 11 has a Snapdragon 888 chip, 108 megapixel camera

As promised a week ago, Xiaomi launched on Monday the world’s first smartphone with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip – the Xiaomi Mi 11.

The phone was announced at an event in China – sorry guys, the global launch is yet to come – and will be available in China on January 1st.

In addition to boasting Qualcomm’s latest and greatest mobile processor, the Mi 11 is a typical Xiaomi flagship, with some very strong features that will make you wonder why you ever considered buying a more expensive flagship phone, but also with some commitments to keep the price low.

The Mi 11 has a 6.81-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. There is an imposing triple rear camera at the rear, with a main sensor of 108 megapixels, an ultra-wide sensor of 13 megapixels and a telephoto sensor of 5 megapixels. The camera is capable of recording video from 8K to 30fps. At the front, there is a 20 megapixel shooter, located in a small hole in the top center of the screen.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 can come with a leather back or a special version with textured glass.

The phone comes with 8/12 GB of RAM and 128/126 GB of storage memory. It has a 4,600 mAh battery with 55 W wired fast charging, 50 W wireless charging and 10 W reverse wireless charging. Other interesting features include Harman Kardon dual stereo speakers, video recording mode AI-enhanced for very dark environments and a very wide color selection, which includes black, white and blue, as well as an optional leather case in khaki or smoked purple.

One thing that is missing – in addition to an official water resistance rating – is the Pro version of the phone. This year, instead of launching several variants of its flagship, Xiaomi is launching only one, the Mi 11. Fortunately, this looks quite powerful and will be a great test to see how good the new Snapdragon chip is.

Xiaomi Mi 11 starts at 3,999 yuan ($ 612) in China; there is no information on international pricing or availability yet.
