Today, Xiaomi is launching its new flagship Mi 11 to the global market, after the domestic launch of the phone in China almost 6 weeks ago.
The Mi 11 is an interesting device, as it really balances its features as an affordable flagship device. European prices for the new phone start at € 749, with the new Snapdragon 888 SoC, and what appears to be a high-end 120Hz 1440p OLED display, all with a next-generation 108MP camera module, via phone appointments on your other cameras.

The new Mi 11 is powered by the Snapdragon 888 which we took a deeper dive earlier today. The CPU configuration of the new chip is definitely more powerful, as is its GPU, but it can also consume a lot of energy. I expect Xiaomi’s implementation to be more aggressive than Samsung’s, allowing for higher levels of power dissipation under sustained workloads – we will confirm this soon when we prepare for a phone review.
The design of the Mi 11 seems to be quite attractive and is definitely a more stylish phone than the Mi 10, as Xiaomi was able to tune the phone by 0.9 mm and also make it 12g lighter – it doesn’t look like much, but such differences can cause a substantial change in sentiment.
The phone features a 6.8 ”3200 x 1440 OLED screen that is capable of reaching 120 Hz refresh rates, as well as an incredible 480 Hz touch input sample rate. Xiaomi announces extremely high brightness levels ; however, the company has not commented on the OLED generation of the panel, so at the moment we are not sure if it is using one of the most recent emitting panels on Samsung Display or if it still has VRR / LFD capabilities – but for sure now i’m assuming no.
On the camera side, the Mi 11 features its unique 108MP sensor, reducing it to 27MP in normal photos. This generation of Xiaomi opted for a different optics, going from f / 1.69 to a new f / 1.85 system – which in my opinion is the absolutely right choice, as the previous generation suffered from low optical performance from the main camera. The module here also has OIS.
Next to the main sensor, we see an ultra-wide 13MP with 123 ° V FoV and f / 2.4 optics, as well as a 5MP “telemacro” module with 2x magnification. I’m curious to see what this last module does, but I think that most people should treat the phone as a dual camera phone, which is also absolutely good.
749 € – A great price
The big news today was the revelation of the global / European price of the new Mi 11: € 749 for the 8 + 128 GB variant. In fact, it is a very good price, considering that it is competing with companies like the Galaxy S21 + for 999 €. Xiaomi has some disadvantages in the camera department, although we have to see how they compete with each other, but it also has notable advantages, such as a higher quality screen and the superior Snapdragon 888 in most global markets, which outperforms the new Exynos 2100.
In this sense, Xiaomi’s price seems to be accurate and of great value. We will be reviewing the Mi 11 in the near future.
