Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is sold in Japan after the announcement of the crushing of Pyra and Mythra

Is Xenoblade Chronicles 2 finally getting the hype it deserves? With just over 2 million sales worldwide since its launch in 2017 – take the 23 million sales of Breath of the Wild as a comparison – it is still the best-selling Xenoblade game for around half a million.

After the announcement that Pyra and Mythra will be added to the list of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, people are running to check out the girls (or, er, girls) in action. As a result, copies of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are out of stock on Amazon Japan, and the American version of Amazon is also running out of stock.

It could be argued that this was Nintendo’s plan all along – Smash Bros. it has the power to revitalize a declining series or draw attention to an underestimated one. Perhaps, however, Nintendo is just setting the stage for a brand new Xenoblade game – or a Switch port for Xenoblade Chronicles X. We can hope, right?
