A new trailer aired, giving us more information on the innovative visuals of Ninja Theory Project: Mara.

Last year, we heard about the experimental Ninja Theory title called Project: Mara – the developer revealed the game as a quirky game that will explore “new ways of storytelling” and will be based on a “real world” and “grounded representation” of mental terror.

Now, in a new trailer, we’ve heard a little more about the game and seen some of the mind-blowing photo-realistic visuals that Tameem Antoniades and his team are creating for the mysterious title.

Perhaps the biggest revelation of this new trailer is that the whole game takes place inside just one apartment – an apartment that really exists! – and the team dedicated a lot of development time to recreate that apartment in a photorealistic way.

The dimensions of the apartment, the textures displayed on the site, the lighting … all of this was replicated by the development team with the latest technology. And you can see the results for yourself.

Working together with Clear Angle Studios, Ninja Theory was able to use a “point cloud of the entire apartment” up to “every little detail” to create the digital representation of the real space shown in the trailer above.

From there, the team started using procedural tools to start adding “signs of life” to the apartment – dust, wear and other more organic elements were layered in this real replication to add that “indescribable sense of place” ‘environments. overly sanitized game can sometimes be missing.

We still don’t know much about the mysterious game outside of its “aim to recreate the horrors of the mind in the most accurate and realistic way possible”, but at least we know that it will look very good, as it scares our lives.

Ninja Theory is also working on Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 and became part of the Xbox Game Studios collective in 2018.
