Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One are getting an updated browser that can play Google Stadia

The Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One consoles will soon receive a new updated browser from Microsoft Edge Chromium that is capable of playing Google Stadia. As reported by The Verge, testers in the Alpha Skip-Ahead group on Xbox can now access this new version of Edge, and while it does not yet have full mouse and keyboard support and is somewhat buggy, it looks much better than the current solution.A benefit of a Chromium browser on the Xbox is to allow it to work with browser-based streaming services, such as Google Stadia and Amazon Luna. In addition, while Xbox consoles have native access to the Xbox Game Pass, this could theoretically also enable Xbox Cloud Gaming through a browser, as Microsoft adds support for it in Spring 2021.

In addition, this should allow for improved compatibility with browser-based games and services, such as Skype and Discord, over the web.

This previous version also includes the same or similar synchronization mechanism used in Edge, which allows extensions, vertical guides, collections and many other features found in the desktop version of Edge.
