Xbox hardware revenue grows as Microsoft reports record gains

Microsoft posted record profits this quarter, including a boom in its gaming industry, which had 51% revenue. The company as a whole posted record revenue of $ 43.1 billion. In the most recent financial earnings report for the period ended December 31, 2020, Microsoft shared that revenue increased 17% to reach $ 43.1 billion and $ 15 billion in profit.

According to the case of the last quarters, profits were driven by Microsoft’s cloud platform, but that does not mean that there were no other successful ventures.

Xbox Series X games confirmed

Hardware had the biggest growth thanks to the launch of the Xbox Series X | S. Microsoft says the gaming hardware segment has grown 86% thanks to the new hardware, although the company has not released the exact figures.

Meanwhile, Microsoft reported that overall revenue grew 51% in games, with Xbox content and service revenue growing 40%. The growth was attributed to third party titles, Xbox Game Pass subscriptions and own titles.

According to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, during the conference call, the Xbox Game Pass now has 18 million subscribers. The figures also do not take into account the acquisition of Microsoft’s Zenimax, which should be completed later this year.

News of Microsoft’s successful quarter increased Microsoft’s stock. The company’s success is obviously based on a wide range of products and offerings, not just games. The Microsoft range covers software, applications, home computers and more; while the R&D department gets involved in projects like putting servers underwater.
