Xbox Game Pass Ultimate looking to add all Ubisoft + services

Rumors are circulating that Xbox will add another subscription service library to its popular Game Pass Ultimate.

Rumors of the Xbox Game Pass continue, with the latest rumor suggesting that Xbox is looking to add another subscription package to the service. Doing so would add more than 100 games to the affordable service, but it raises price issues among many players.

In the summer of 2018, Xbox made a statement by adding 5 new original studios to its E3 press conference that year. This meant not only new titles exclusive to the platform, but more games from these studios were being made available on the Game Pass. 20 Bethesda games were also recently brought to the Game Pass following the Xbox acquisition of ZeniMax Media. Microsoft continues its quest to add games to its popular subscription service, and industry insider Jeff Grubb has suggested that Ubisoft may be next in line.

This does not mean that Microsoft is looking to buy Ubisoft; this means that the Xbox may be adding Ubisoft + to the Game Pass. For those who don’t know, Ubisoft + is a subscription very similar to the Game Pass, in which subscribers pay a monthly fee for unlimited access to the Ubisoft game catalog. Previously known as Uplay Plus, this service hosts more than 100 games, which would dramatically increase the number of titles available on the Game Pass, if the rumors prove to be true.

This move would not be without precedent; Xbox added EA Play to Game Pass Ultimate in September 2020. Electronic Arts’ subscription service added a lot of value to Game Pass with games, demos and other benefits on the console and, eventually, on the PC. The industry expects the addition of Ubisoft + to work in the same way, although price concerns have divided participants on the issue.

At the time of writing, the standard Game Pass subscription cost $ 9.99 a month, while Game Pass Ultimate charged $ 14.99 a month. The Ultimate subscription includes Xbox Live Gold, Game Pass for Console and PC, as well as access to EA Play. In terms of dollar content, the Xbox Game Pass is arguably the best deal in the gaming industry today. But all this value makes many players start to wonder where the point of price / price break is; with all these additions to the service, when will the Xbox increase the price of the Game Pass?

Players still don’t have a good answer to that question, and the addition of Ubisoft + to the Game Pass is still just a rumor at the moment. What is clear, however, is Microsoft’s goal to get all consumers to the service. With the first month costing just a dollar and marketing campaigns featuring the game Falcon Game Pass, Xbox seems to be betting that its subscription model is the way of the future.
