Four games will leave the Xbox Game Pass subscription service this month, including a popular franchise fighting game.
The Xbox brand had an impressive year in 2020. Xbox not only launched two new consoles on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, but also the growth of its Xbox Game Pass the signature was very impressive. The Xbox Game Pass subscription added a ton of new games in 2020, including original Xbox titles and independent games on launch day. But not every announcement can be about new games added to the Xbox Game Pass. Sometimes games also need to be taken out of service.
Four games are already confirmed to come out of the Xbox Game Pass, on the PC and on the console, from January 15th. Fortunately, this losing streak is limited to just four titles, but each is an exciting game that will be sorely missed. The four titles include FTL: faster than light, My friend Pedro, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, and Tekken 7. Both Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet and Tekken 7 are scheduled to depart on January 15, but have not yet officially confirmed that date.
Tekken 7 it is obviously the biggest game of the group to be leaving the service. The latest fighting game from the popular franchise sold more than 6 million copies last September, exceeding Bandai Namco’s expectations for the release. It is not clear why Tekken 7 is leaving the Xbox Game Pass, but it’s possible that Bandai Namco hasn’t seen as many players as it would like, or that it hasn’t converted them into DLC buyers. It may also be simply that Microsoft has chosen not to renew its license to maintain Tekken 7 in the Game Pass.
While Tekken 7 we will be sorely missed, FTL: faster than light and My friend Pedro are jewels in their own right. While Tekken 7 is a game that can attract service subscribers based on name recognition, FTL and My friend Pedro are the types of games that current subscribers can find and enjoy.
At a minimum, four games coming out of the Xbox Game Pass are relatively few. In December, for example, a total of 10 games left the Xbox Game Pass. Seven of them left him on December 15, as it appears to be in the middle of the month, when Xbox Game Pass contracts often expire.
As four games leave the service, many more move up to take their place. In January, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to check out Killer Queen Black, Cyber Shadow, Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 Remastered, as well as a large exclusive Xbox Series X / S console in The medium.
