In the Royal Rumble, WWE women’s doubles champions Charlotte Flair and Asuka will fight Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax in a rematch for their illustrious titles. Considering the individual problems that affect the four stars, it is not clear which team will win.
At the same time, it seemed almost inconceivable that there was any set that could topple Baszler and Nia’s dominant combination. That all changed at WWE TLC when Raw Women’s champion Asuka revealed Charlotte Flair as her surprise partner to claim the gold.
Since their huge defeat, there have been more than a few strands of dissension between Shayna and Nia, centered on their mutual desire to be the only one to emerge victorious in this year’s Royal Rumble Match and win the right to the main WrestleMania event.
Meanwhile, while the partnership between Flair and Asuka looks much more solid than their impending opponents, the two will go to the Royal Rumble with their own distractions. The Queen has recently been at odds with Lacey Evans about The Lady’s involvement with Charlotte’s father, twice the WWE Hall of Fame Ric Flair. And The Empress of Tomorrow recently became involved with the dark side of Alexa Bliss, who gave the champion a shocking loss out of the title.
